Sommer Gentry, Lindy Hopping Math Whiz, Competing on Fox's "Superhuman" on Monday July 24!
/We already knew that our friend Sommer Gentry was a bad-ass dancer and a math genius. The larger world is going to get to see her math skills and charm on display on Monday night, July 24, on the Fox television show "Superhuman".
For those who haven't seen "Superhuman," this "one-hour competition series will test the abilities of ordinary people to use their extraordinary skills to win a $50,000 grand prize." On the show, five contestants who possess a distinct ability are challenged to push their skills to the limit, one of whom will take home the $50,000 grand prize.
Sommer Gentry, champion lindy hopper from Baltimore, will be one of the contestants on Monday night, according to the Baltimore Sun. Her goal was to “show people that recreational mathematics is fun and interesting” and to debunk the stereotypes of what a math professor is like. Whether or not she takes home the grand prize (which we hope she will do), she's already a champion in our book for being an awesome role model to the public of what a mathematician is.
Here's our interview with Sommer on SwingNation from way back in 2012!
The show will air at 9pm in most markets. Check your local listings. We'll post the video link here once it becomes available!
