Help Keep Dance Programs Alive in Oakland, California!

One of my favorite local dance spaces is Breakaway Swing in Oakland, California. Breakaway is the only weekly lindy hop dance in Oakland, bringing together a diverse and energetic community of dancers. They are housed in a beautiful, historic ballroom that is used by several other local dance organizations in the Bay Area. Sadly, the space is being threatened with closure unless they can raise funds to keep it going.
Fortunately, there’s a coalition of awesome local dance groups that are banding together to form a new non-profit, including:
Swing Out (West Coast Swing)
Texas Rose Dance (Queer Women’s Country Western Dance)
Trip the Light Fantastic (LGBTQ Ballroom dance)
and Breakaway Swing (Lindy Hop).
Sounds like a formidable team!
This group needs to raise $10,000 by December 15 to get their non-profit off the ground and pay the rent to the city of Oakland. If you would like to learn more and support, head to their GoFundMe page.
