World Lindy Hop Day Rome Cancelled
/We are sad to share the news that the 2015 World Lindy Hop Day in Rome event is cancelled. Scheduled for the week of May 22-26 in Rome, Italy, WLHD Rome was intended to encourage the spread of lindy hop to audiences around the world, including a physical event as a representation of the global reach of Lindy Hop.
From Mandi Gould, Co-Chair of the (now disbanded) World Lindy Hop Day global selection committee:
It is with deep regret that we share the announcement that the plans for the official World Lindy Hop Day 2015 event in Rome have collapsed. The global selection committee is embarrassed by the inability of the organizational party to host their event, as promised.
We, the selection committee, are so sorry for the inconvenience and monetary loss that the Rome cancellation is going to cause a lot of people. The dance community in Rome is also very upset by what has happened. We understand that this will have a particularly strong impact on the people who have non-refundable flights and hotels for Rome, May 22-24th weekend.
We await news confirmation of refunds to all of the people involved.
Please note that any future “official” World Lindy Hop Day event selection has been disbanded. We encourage everyone to celebrate Frankie Month in May and Frankie Manning’s birthday annually on May 26th in your own way, around the world.

What do you think? Does it make sense to have an annual gathering to celebrate Frankie and lindy hop? Or is that already fulfilled by international events like Herrang, ILHC, and other big events?
